Haversacks were generally of the same pattern as those of the U.S. regular
forces being linen or canvas with three button flap. Knapsacks were of
the Lherbette pattern. We use the white cross belts. The bayonet scabbards
were of black leather and the cartridge box is of the 1808 period. Canteens
were of the wooden cheese box style, painted dark blue with a white U.S.
painted on the outside and a leather strap.
